Neutrogena Deep Clean Brightening Cleansing Oil Review

Neutrogena Deep Clean Brightening Cleansing Oil Review : Today I will be reviewing a product from the category I have never reviewed before and it is the Neutrogena cleansing oil. I have never wrote about cleansing oil before but actually used two of them in last one year. First one was from biore and second is Neutrogena deep clean brightening cleansing oil. I loved the biore cleansing oil but after finishing that, I gave this neutrogena cleansing oil a try. This product is affordable than other oil cleansers available in indian market that’s why I was so excited to try this out.

Now, I am writing this review after I’m completely done with it. Actually this oil took me a long time to finish. If want to know the reason, let’s jump into the review.

Price: INR 850 for 200ml

Shelf life: 3 years

Product Description And Claims

A brightening cleansing oil that effectively removes dirt, impurities and visible traces of makeup, even long wearing and waterproof mascara in one single step. Mulberry extract helps deliver 2x brightening power to reveal brighter skin with a healthy glow.

How To Use

Apply the oil to your bare and dry face, massage in a gentle circular motion. When water is added, it turns into a soft milk. Finally, rinse off with lukewarm water.

Packaging

Neutrogena cleansing oil comes inside a transparent rose red colored bottle along with a pump dispenser attached to it. There was also a plastic stopper provided with the pump to prevent leakage. The pump does not have a twist-lock system, so you have to keep the stopper. But still, I did not find it travel-friendly because I have experienced leakage many times with this bottle. Apart from this, the product is made in Korea and everything is mentioned in Korean and English as well.

Fragrance

The cleansing oil smells kind of sweet and fruity mixed that remind me of a lip balm. Fragrance is slightly on the stronger side that can be problematic to people having sensitive nose. Additionally, it can also irritate sensitive skin, I think the product would be better without fragrance.

Neutrogena Deep Clean Brightening Cleansing Oil Review And My Experience

Texture / Appearance – Neutrogena cleansing oil is transparent, lightweight, liquidy oil. Being an oil, it does not feel sticky or greasy.

My Experience With Neutrogena Cleansing Oil

I like to use cleansing oil every night to get rid of dirt and sunscreen properly. Foundation and BB creams are not the part of my daily routine, I use them once in a while. Though, I have tried this cleansing oil over some makeup products to see if it actually removes makeup or not.

When I first applied it onto my face, I felt it is slightly thicker than my previous cleansing oil. And for each uses, I need little extra than regular, approx 4-6 pumps. If you take adequate amount of oil, you would not experience any issue while massaging. It dissolves dirt, sunscreen, makeup quite effectively and turns milky when comes in contact with water. The cleanser have potential to takes off BB/CC creams, foundation, concealer, eyeliner, mascara and lipstick. Apart from that, I have never tried it over eyeshadows, glitters or highlighters. Therefore, I can’t tell anything about them.

The oil cleanser is very easy to wash with water and it doesn’t leave any oily residue behind. Yes, it does cleanses skin very nicely. Everything went well during first application but the next day I’ve noticed so many tiny bumps on my face. I was so sad about how the oil reacted to my skin and decided not use it again. But, after a month, I again gave this cleansing oil a try because I was out of all my makeup removers.

It reacted this time too, but little differently. I got painful pimples on my both cheeks after using this oil for few days. Now that I’m sure, it did not suit my skin, I finally decided to finish it off using over my neck, hands and feets. This oil didn’t cause any problem over there but to my face, it creates a disaster.

Overall, my experience with this cleansing oil was really not at all good. But, in case it suits your skin, it would be a decent and affordable cleansing oil to use everyday.

However, the fragrance can also cause irritation in people with sensitive or damaged skin. And it should be also avoided if you are using any strong prescription or medicated cream (in my opinion).

PROS
  • Inexpensive ( compared to other cleansing oils).
  • Does not feel sticky or greasy.
  • Removes makeup, sunscreen, dirt effectively.
  • Easy to wash off.
  • Does not leave residue behind.
CONS
  • Strong fragrance.
  • Not travel-friendly.
  • Not suitable for damaged and sensitive skin.
  • Cause tiny bumps and pimples ( personal experience ).
