The Derma Co lip balm comes in bullet packaging which is quite sturdy and made of plastic. It is travel friendly and can be easily operated. Beside, lip balm comes housed in inside a carton box which contain all the information. Overall, I have no issue with its packaging except it’s opening which is a little hard.

Fragrance

This lip balm is fragrance and essential oil free hence, it has no such fruity or floral smell like some lip balms. However, I have noticed it’s natural smell which comes from the mixture of ingredients like coconut oil, castor oil and butters. And the smell is extremely mild.

Initially I didn’t like this at all because the chapstick lip balm feels very hard to apply due to its waxy formulation. And after 1 hour of application my lips becomes dry and dehydrated. Instead of moisturizing lips it makes them dry. I stopped using it for some time. But my lips were becoming dull and it was also slightly tanned because I skipped SPF lip balm and spent a lot of time under the sun. That’s why I tried it again. However, before applying the lip balm I scrub my lips using Nicolips scrub balm. And surprisingly this time it goes on smoothly. It actually moisturizes my lip pretty well and I only use it twice or thrice a day.

I have seen a good improvement after using it regularly for few weeks. The Derma Co Kojic Acid Lip Balm removes tanning and dullness from my lip. Although, due to its waxy-buttery kind of formulation I need scrubbing once a week. And after using facewash I also rub my lips using my finger to remove all the trace of lip balm. Since it’s a lip sunscreen, it is normal to leave a layer like residue. You just need to cleanse your lips properly every night.

It has been a month since I’m using the lip balm and it made my lips look naturally pink, specially my lower lip looks extra pink compared to upper lip. It isn’t anything magical rather it is helpful in removing excess pigmentation and tanning. If vitamin c or ascorbic acid based lip balm didn’t suits you, this is something you can opt for.

Furthermore, The Derma Co Kojic Acid Lip-Balm is enriched with shea butter, cocoa butter and natural oils that makes skin soft and smooth. Prior to this, I have used Minimalist L-ascorbic acid lip balm for lip lightening but it lacks SPF, therefore this 1% Kojic Acid + 0.5% Alpha Arbutin lip balm by The Derma Co is good option as it contain SPF 30 PA++. I recommend this.
