The Derma Co Pure Zinc Matte Sunscreen Gel SPF 30 PA+++ Review

The Derma Co Pure Zinc Matte Sunscreen Gel Review: Today I’ll be sharing The Derma Co Pure Zinc Matte Sunscreen Gel SPF 30 PA+++ Review. I like trying different sunscreens because I am yet to find the best sunscreen for my skin. A formula that suit my skin type, provide high protection, safe ingredients and does not clog pores. I know it is quite tough to find such formulation but I keep trying different sunscreens hoping that I will find some day. Recently, I got this sunscreen free with the derma co vitamin C serum.

The Derma Co Pure Zinc Matte Sunscreen Gel SPF 30 PA+++ Review

It is a physical sunscreen, free of chemical filters. These physical filter won’t get absorbed into your body like the chemical ones. That’s why I prefer physical sunscreens over the chemical formulation but PS give prominent white cast which look nasty on Indian skin tones. The Derma Co sunscreen has SPF 30 PA+++ which is good for indoors. I have been using it everyday (indoors) since more than 2 weeks. So without further ado let’s move ahead to know how this sunscreen perform.

Product Description And Claims

The Pure Zinc Matte Sunscreen is an SPF 30 gel formulation made with active PA+++ protection and UVA/UVB filters: Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. This lightweight mineral sunscreen is formulated with 100% natural zinc oxide to protect Indian skin types. Regular use during the daytime will block sun sensitivity and prevent pigmentation. It is dermatologically tested, safe, potent, and highly efficacious in broad-spectrum protection.

How To Use

After cleansing and moisturizing, apply this broad spectrum sunscreen every morning. You should use it 20 minutes before going out to protect against fine lines, wrinkles, inflammation and dark spots.

Packaging

The sunscreen comes packed in an opaque orange and white color tube along with a screw on cap. I don’t like these screw caps as they are a little time consuming. Besides, the whole packaging is good, travel friendly and I have no issue with packaging.

Fragrance

It has a weird smell with some kind of floral hint. Though, it is a bit strong and stays for some time, it keep annoying me for some time after application.

The Derma Co Pure Zinc Matte Sunscreen Gel Review And My Experience

The Derma Co Pure Zinc sunscreen gel is thick, white and has very smooth slippery texture that spreads seamlessly. Texture is quite similar to most of the silicone based sunscreens. Besides, appearance is somewhat like cream but it is because of the color it has. It is not creamy in texture. When I applied it directly over my face, I saw the extreme white cast that was horrible. I cleanse off my face immediately. Since the sunscreen has no hydrating or moisturizing properties, I use a simple, non-fancy moisturizer beneath. With moisturizer the white cast look less prominent. However, I do not recommend this to wheatish and deeper skin tones. If you are very fair, you can use it without facing much white cast.

Apperarance

Initially, after application my skin felt slightly oily and slippery but after a while, it turns into a soft matte finish. The sunscreen take lot of time in blending and also you have to be quick, otherwise it may look little patchy. Furthermore, most impressive part of this sunscreen is, it does not breaks or flakes off.

I personally dislike silicone-based sunscreen but this one is not from that category. I’m happy with this because I don’t have to bear uncomfortable greasy or sticky feel. But I like to use it more on my hands and legs than my face. Additionally, my skin does not feel dry or stretchy after few hours which I experienced with most of the sunscreens.

Post Application

I only used it at home (on face) but when I go out I put over my hands and feets. Honestly speaking, I only used it once for outdoors for few hours. It did protect my skin from tanning but sun was not very harsh at that time. My skin does not felt scorched after I came back home. So, you can also use it for outdoors when the sun is mild. For body, I think it’s a really nice sunscreen as it feels light and leaves no sticky or greasy feel.

Furthermore, I have been using it since few weeks and did not face any major breakout due to this. Although, you may notice few tiny bumps if you layer this over so many products. Also, the formula may irritate if you have damaged for disturbed skin barrier. Because it needs a good amount of time in blending and rubbing your skin can cause redness to extremely sensitive skin. Overall, with my experience, I would recommend this sunscreen for hands and legs but not for face.

The Derma Co Pure Zinc Matte Sunscreen Gel is an average product for me because of the irritating smell and heavy white cast. But despite of that there is no search major CONS. The sunscreen is lightweight, non-greasy, non-sticky and cause no breakouts. Protection is good but not enough for harsh sun. Sunscreen is not that good for face (due to white cast) but works really nicely for hands and legs. Furthermore, it has no chemical filter, therefore it is safe to use.
