Sadhev Ayurvedic Sunscreen SPF 30 Review

Sadhev Ayurvedic Sunscreen SPF 30 Review: Today I’ll be reviewing an ayurvedic sunscreen from the brand called sadhev – the art of ayurveda. I know ayurvedic sunscreens are not something appreciated by many people due to their herbal UV filters that doesn’t work that well. But despite of the herbal ingredients, it has zinc oxide as UV filter which is a physical UV blocker. And it is a mineral based sunscreen having just a single UV filter. I bought this sunscreen with high hopes and it turned out as an average sunscreen to me.

How To Use

Apply this sunscreen evenly on your face and massage into circular motion. Use 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply frequently for enough protection.

Packaging

Sadhev sunscreen comes in a huge brown colored plastic bottle along with a pump dispenser. Although, I don’t like the pump because after opening the seal, this pump is unable to relock. It may degrade the quality of sunscreen. So, I stored this sunscreen in a different bottle. Furthermore, bottle comes packed inside a cardboard box on which necessary details like direction, ingredients, description and manufacturing details are mentioned. Overall, I did not like the packaging because of its pump that does not work. Additionally, it is not ideal for travelling.

Fragrance

The sunscreen has a very nice and sweet floral fragrance. And the thing I don’t like is it does have added ‘perfume’ as an ingredient. Moreover, this fragrance stays for quite sometime and is strong enough to cause headache to people with sensitive nose.

Sadhev Ayurvedic Sunscreen Review And My Experience

It is a silicone based sunscreen that feels very slippery when I apply. But it has some chunky particles in it that feels slightly gritty (mainly on face). However, they don’t feel abrasive over body’s skin and melt down with little massage. Silicone based sunscreen usually tend to peel off very easily with massage. So, avoid lot of massaging with this sunscreen because it also peels off easily.

For the very first time, I used this sunscreen on my face and it felt slippery (kind of oily) initially. But after several minutes it turns matte. Not only this but my skin (dry/normal type) felt stretchy after around 2-3 hours of application because I skipped moisturizer too. Although with moisturizer it feels little oily. That’s why I don’t like using this on my face and prefer using over hands and legs. I think it is good for those days when you are staying at home.

Appearance

Another great thing is, it dries down into an invisible finish and leaves almost no white cast. It does not feel heavy either. Therefore, if you don’t mind the gritty particles and fragrance, you can use on your face as well. Moreover, the ingredients are questionable too because it only contain 0.5% zinc oxide which is considerably low. And you can’t use it outside your home because it may be unable to prevent tanning.

Furthermore, I would also suggest avoid using this under makeup since it peels off easily. Even though the sunscreen has silicone, it does not give any bumps or breakouts (if you avoid layering). Additionally, my skin also felt nourished whenever I apply. Due to its skin moisturizing and nourishing properties, I think it is a nice moisturizer cum sunscreen which you can use indoors. Beside, it is suitable for normal/combination skin but avoid this during humid whether.

PROS

  • No white cast
  • Does not cause break out or bumps
  • Leaves matte finish
  • Suitable for normal and combination skin type
  • Does not feel heavy
  • Moisturizes and nourish skin

CONS

  • Expensive
  • Strong fragrance
  • Gritty particles
  • Has a pump that does not lock
  • Peels off easily
Overall Rating: 2.5 / 5

Overall Sadhev Ayurvedic Sunscreen is just an average product for me. It can be use indoors because it has only SPF 30. I would recommend using over hands, legs and face but it works better over body’s skin than face.
