Neutrogena Sheer Zinc Dry Touch Sunscreen Review And My Experience
Neutrogena sheer zinc sunscreen is white, having medium thick consistency. It is slightly sticky that does not spread very easily over skin. For facial application, I prefer using beauty blender. This sunscreen takes little time to set in. However, it gives slight sheen initially that oily skin people may not like.
Moreover, due to its sticky formulation it also attracts dirt. If I talk about Indian weather which is mostly humid I don’t think this sunscreen can fit in. Although, one can use it when weather is pretty normal, neither too humid nor too dry. Additionally it is too white that would look horrible on Indian skin tones. I would only recommend it to someone with very fair skin tones.
Furthermore, since it didn’t fit my facial skin I tried it over my hands and legs. This works really nicely for my hands as it doesn’t look that whitish over there. But over my dry feets, it looks too white. Therefore, I prefer using this sunscreen over moisturized skin to avoid white cast.
Recently mineral sunscreen got really hyped up and I wanna try them too. I bought this with having high hopes in my mind. Although, I couldn’t use it on my facial skin because of white cast. Another problem I face with this sunscreen is, when I apply without moisturizing it makes my skin felt stretchy and dry. Whereas, applying on top of moisturizer makes my skin too shiny and slightly heavy. My skin type is dry to normal and with most of the sunscreens I need moisturizer underneath.
As for the protection, this sunscreen does provide a very nice protection against UV rays. I applied it over my hands and went outside in harsh sun. After I came back, wash my hands and noticed it doesn’t look much tanned or dull. I tried it so many times for outside and it never disappointed me. I use it only on my hands and legs where the sunscreen is easy to reapply.
PROS
- 100% mineral sunscreen
- Fragrance free
- Does not contain PABA and oil
- Travel friendly
- Great protection from UV rays
- Good as body sunscreen
CONS
- Does not spread that easily
- Leaves prominent white cast
- May not suit dry skin type
Overall Rating: 3 / 5
Overall Neutrogena sheer zinc sunscreen is a nice one to have adequate protection. Beside, I strongly recommend reapplication. It leaves white cast, therefore, it will be suitable for fairer skin tones. Personally, I found out this sunscreen sits nicely over body’s skin rather than facial skin. Furthermore, I’m not sure whether it will suit sensitive skin or not. But if you are suffering from damaged skin barrier, avoid this product.
