Cetaphil SUN SPF 50+Light Gel Review | Suitability

Cetaphil SUN SPF 50+Light Gel Review: Cetaphil is one of the most popular skin care brands in India and I will be reviewing sunscreen from the brand ‘Cetaphil’. Since summer is knocking on the door, you might be searching for a perfect sunscreen for your skin. Cetaphil sunscreen is formulated with high SPF 50+ that protects skin from UVA, UVB and infrared radiation. I like using heavy duty, high SPF sunscreen during spring and summer. Because I use skincare actives in the day time as well as night time. It does need extra care and protection to maintain the health of my skin. Additionally I want my sunscreen to be non-comedogenic and fragrance free and this sunscreen have both these features.
Well let’s see how it worked for my skin.

Ingredients

How To Use

Apply generously before 20 minutes from sun exposure and allow some time to absorb. Avoid contact with eyes. Reapply several times in order to maintain sun protection, especially after swimming, drying off and sweating.

Packaging

Cetaphil sunscreen comes in a medium size tube with a flip flop cap attached on top. Inside it has a small nozzle that dispenses the right amount of product and I have no issue with the packaging. It is hygienic and travel friendly too. Apart from this, the tube itself comes packed in a carton box and both the tube and outer packaging contain all the product related information.

Fragrance

I like the fact that it has no fragrance in it. I prefer using fragrance free sunscreen.

Cetaphil SUN SPF 50+Light Gel Review And My Experience

This sunscreen has medium consistency which is neither runny nor too thick either. Don’t get confused by its name ‘light gel’. It is definitely not a ‘gel’ rather its a cream like but not as thick as creams. However, it glides on easily but takes little massage to set completely over my face. This sunscreen leaves a very shiny, dewy finish and initially it looks whitish too. Although, white cast subside after sometime but it does leave a little tone up effect after that. People with oily skin and deeper tones might not feel comfortable with it. I have tried this sunscreen so many times with so many different products and noticed, this sunscreen does not fit well over some products.

Like if you use this over hyaluronic acid serum, there are chances that it will become patchy. Likewise, if you put it over essence, serum, moisturizer this will make you look too whitish and cakey. After having some bad experiences, I started applying this sunscreen over moisturizer and it does not become patchy and leave less white cast.

Furthermore, this sunscreen is non-comedogenic that won’t clog your pores. Plus, it protects skin quite well but I would not recommend it for vacations. This sunscreen is suitable for normal to dry and dry-combination skin because it provides moisture and does not make my skin feel dry or tight.
Moreover, I have never applied makeup over this sunscreen as it already gives a little toned up effect. Though, I have tried a BB cream once and it goes well. Honestly in my opinion, this won’t go well under makeup and reapplication is quite tough with this sunscreen.

Plus, you should avoid applying this over eye area because it can cause irritation to the eyes ( I have experienced it too).

Overall Cetaphil SUN SPF 50+Light Gel was an average sunscreen for me. It provides nice protection, give toned up finish without making my dry-normal skin feel tight or stretch. What I don’t like about this is that it makes skin very shiny and sometimes leave skin patchy with a noticeable white cast. Moreover, the non-comedogenic claims are true which I really appreciate. But Overall it didn’t impressed me at all, this sunscreen needs a lot of improvement.
