I love high SPF sunscreens and constantly looking for the formula that could provide best sun protection. Because my skin becomes sensitive due to using exfoliating ingredients constantly in my routine. Only a few brands have sunscreen with such a high SPF. Well, Banana boat has huge range of sunscreens with different levels of sun protection factor of – 30, 50, 80 and 100. If you are also interested in this here is my review of Banana Boat Sport Ultra SPF 100 Sunscreen.
Product Description And Claims
Banana Boat® Sport Ultra is a high-performance sunscreen specifically designed for the sport enthusiast and active individual who wants protection that will stay on while they play on. This lightweight, breathable formula is perfect for the sweatiest outdoor activities and provides clinically proven UVA/UVB protection so that you can protect the fun.
Ingredients
Packaging
The sunscreen comes in a convenient travel friendly plastic bottle with flip flop cap. I prefer flip flop cap over screw on caps because it is quick and less time consuming. Besides, bottle contain all the necessary product information.
Fragrance
It was a bit surprising that it does not have floral smell rather it smells like ‘fevicol gum’. Though, it isn’t very strong and fades away after application.
Banana Boat Sport Ultra SPF 100 Sunscreen Review And My Experience
The sunscreen has a medium thick consistency and it is also slightly greasy. I apply the sunscreen in dots, then blend it well. It feels slightly sticky on application, plus does not glide very easily over face. I have tried it over different products and what I noticed is that it fits easily along with some moisturizers and serums. Whereas, when applied over hyaluronic acid based toner or serum it becomes foamy while blending but the foamy residue disappears after few minutes. This incident happened with Missha Time Revolution essence, serum and Tony Moly hyaluronic acid toner.
However, the best thing about this sunscreen is – it leaves no white cast, patchy residue or cause any piling issue. I can feel its weight on my face because it isn’t very light but not too heavy either, it’s somewhere between. My skin type is normal to dry and during winter it does not give a very shiny finish while in summer it feels oily and slightly sticky. Hence I would not recommend to those having oily skin. Being a dry skin person, I skipped moisturizer most of the time and headed on to this sunscreen right after applying serum. Dry skin people can use this sunscreen year around. Since it does not give a very fresh finish, you can apply BB cream or compact powder on top of it to get that fresh, even complexion. Furthermore, layering several products should be avoided with this sunscreen, otherwise you’ll ended up looking more oiler along with a heavy feel on your face.
Protection
It provides good protection in comparison to those SPF 50 sunscreens. Whenever I go out I apply this over my face, hands and and feet. I didn’t get tan lines on my hands and feet. Plus, my face didn’t look as dull as it used get before.
I definitely felt, it is stronger than SPF 50 or SPF 30 sunscreens. If you are looking for something to apply when going on the beach, for swimming or any outdoor games/activities. And in case your skin is extremely sensitive to sun, you can definitely opt for this Banana Boat Sunscreen having broad spectrum SPF 100. Moreover, this sunscreen is sweat resistant and water resistant, therefore highly recommended for water based activities.
