The Derma Co 2% Alpha Arbutin Serum Review | PROS | CONS

The Derma Co 2% Alpha Arbutin Serum Review : Today I’ll be reviewing another alpha arbutin serum from the brand The Derma Co. As I have shared in my previous post about my acne and damaged skin barrier. After complete recovery from both of these skin conditions, it leaves dark spots on my face. I prefer using alpha arbutin because vitamin C can irritate damaged skin. This serum was on my wishlist for a long time. So, I gave it a try, and here is my review after using it for more than a month.

Price: INR 499 for 30ml

Fragrance

This does not have any added fragrance but it has a weird smell that is not very harsh. I think the smell comes naturally from the ingredients it has.

Ingredients

The Derma Co 2% Alpha Arbutin Serum Review And My Experience

The Derma Co Alpha Arbutin serum has a gel-based, slightly viscous, liquidy consistency which is suitable for almost all skin types. It glides on very smoothly and takes a very short period of time to sink into the skin. You can also feel the hydration of hyaluronic acid, once it gets absorbed. It feels slightly sticky but that isn’t problematic rather the feel of hyaluronic acid which I like. However, it disappears after some time. Moreover, when I apply a hydrating moisturizer on the top, I feel it doubles the hydration of my moisturizer because of hyaluronic acid. The serum does not make skin oily or greasy. Also, does not feel heavy or thick. You can easily layer this under your moisturizer.

I honestly like this formulation, it never caused any redness, irritation, bumps, or clogged pores. Besides, it can suit every skin type because it does not make skin tight, dry, or oily. I have been using this serum every day since the past one month, twice a day as the first step after cleansing. Since it contains active ingredients (alpha arbutin and tartaric acid), I would suggest avoid using any toner or essence before using this serum to make it work faster.

Results

After a month, I have definitely noticed a reduction in appearance of my dark spots that caused because of acne. The serum lightens my dark spots up to 40%. Although, acne spots are still there but got reduced because of using this serum.

However, it works slow, therefore give this serum one or two months to see visible results. Apart from dark spots, it also reduces skin dullness and suntan.
