Today I will be sharing Minimalist Alpha Arbutin 2% Serum Review. I purchase this serum along with Minimalist AHA BHA chemical peel which I have already did this Serum Review on my blog. I bought this mainly because of Alpha arbutin that reduce hyperpigmentation, ordinary dark spots, blemishes and even out skin. It’s been a long time since I’m using this, on and off.
In the past, I have used alpha arbutin serum and results were awesome. Therefore, I also give this a try and here is my detailed review.
Shelf life: 1 year
Product Description And Claims
Minimalist Alpha Arbutin 2% + Hyaluronic Acid Serum is an anti-pigmentation daily serum with alpha arbutin dramatically reduces ordinary dark spots and blemishes for brighter, even-looking skin. This serum is a soothing, skin tone enhancer with a potent and safe skin brightening active alpha arbutin (9 times more effective than beta arbutin) that ensures even tone in 5 weeks.
This serum also has an ultra-light formula that easily absorbs into the skin as is also proven to reduce the degree of sun tanning to a great extent after UV exposure, resulting in clear, radiant skin.
How To Use
Apply 2-3 drops of this serum after cleansing and hydrating with Hyaluronic Acid, both in the morning and evening. Spread it all over your face gently in circular motion. Then, wait for 1-2 minutes for the Alpha Arbutin to penetrate your skin’s deeper layers before going in with your other serums or moisturizers.

Aloe Vera Juice, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Alpha Arbutin, Propanediol, Ethoxydiglycol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Phenoxyethanol, Pullulan, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Xanthan Gum, Sclerotium Gum, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Lactic Acid, Lecithin
Packaging
Minimalist Alpha Arbutin Serum comes in a a frosty glass bottle with dropper attached on top. I like such dropper bottles because it feels very hygienic and convenient. This packaging is quite handy which can be easily carry anywhere while travelling. Moreover, you can find almost all the product related details on outer cardboard box that comes with the bottle. But for explained details you can check out their website.
Fragrance
It does not have any added fragrance to it. Besides, this serum naturally does not have any smell in it. I really adore fragrance-free formulations.
Minimalist Alpha Arbutin 2% Serum Review And My Experience
Minimalist Alpha Arbutin Serum is watery and kind of gel based serum. It glides very easily and gets absorb in no time. I apply this mostly during night, right after cleansing my skin. After application, it does not give any uncomfortable oily or greasy feel rather it mattifies my skin and leaves no residue behind. But I would suggest not to use more than 2-4 drops. Because when you exceed the amount it would feel like a face mask on skin, due to having aloe content in it. When I apply it excessively I end up having a tight and sticky feel on my face that makes me very uncomfortable. I wash my face immediately and re-apply this serum in less quantity.
Furthermore, this is not airy light if you apply too much of it, this will make you feel a little heavy. Also, it is not moisturizing/ hydrating enough for me that’s why I use the derma co vitamin C serum underneath. Arbutin and vitamin C together can speed up the process of skin lightening. In result, you will see noticeable difference in reduction of pigmentation, ordinary dark spots and blemishes in short span of time.
I was quiet excited to try it out because it also contains hyaluronic acid along with arbutin. Hyaluronic acid has skin hydrating properties. And this hyaluronic acid can be use for oily and combination skin. However, I like something like the derma co vitamin C serum that also contains hyaluronic acid. That serum was very hydrating and moisturizing, something that work best on dry skin.
Whereas, this will give enough hydration to oily/combination skin without giving any oily and greasy feel. People with dry skin need to moisturize their skin really well while using this serum. However, dry skin people can use this during humid weather without any doubt. Since it is gel base, it does not give any white cast but sometimes it makes my skin look patchy when I layer different skin care products over it.
Moreover, this does not give any rash or irritation until I apply it over damaged skin. It triggers out my skin a bit. So, avoid using it over extremely sensitive or damage skin. Besides, I have never faced anything breakouts due to this particular serum.
On the other hand, while using this serum alone, it takes about 2-3 weeks to show some results. It help me lighten my spots, dullness and even out complexion. Also, it brighten up under eye area reducing the appearance of dark circles. This may take some time but it does work. For better results, you can use it with vitamin C serum every night. In addition to this, use SPF 50 sunscreen that provide sufficient protection against harmful UV rays.
I really like the results, ingredients but the formulation is not too good for dry skin type people like me.
Overall Minimalist Alpha Arbutin Serum is an effective yet affordable serum that will lighten pigmentation, ordinary dark spots and sun tanning in long run. It does take about a month to show noticeable results. Additionally, this serum does not contain fragrance, silicones, parabens, dyes, sulfates and essential oils. Therefore, it will be non-toxic and gentle on skin.
